You're Kidding Me Right?
Ah, the free agent watch is in full swing, and I read this nice little bit from Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman this morning that made me laugh and cringe at the same time.
Sometimes I wonder where he gets his intelligence from.
The Blue Jays, Orioles and Yankees might be feeling better about coming closer to Ramirez's wish of at least a five-year deal since they could eventually utilize the great right-handed hitter as a DH. Toronto badly wants to upgrade its offense, Baltimore appears serious about becoming a player for multiple free agents (the Orioles are also looking at Mark Teixeira and A.J. Burnett) and the Yankees are expected to be the biggest free-agent force this winter.Baltimore is interested in Manny? Or this some imaginary scenario coming out of Jon Heyman's head. We all know he is a great player, but seriously -- and I mean seriously -- do w! e want a guy who obviously dogged it on the Red Sox to be a leader in the clubhouse?
It's all well and good what he did with the Dodgers, but do the Orioles want the headache if he decides he wants out. I can see if they were a player or two from contending, but do we want to spend umpteen amounts of money on the a guy who is on the wrong side of 30?
Manny will bring in fans, and some renewed interest with the Baltimore organization, but you want to take the chance of he having a tantrum in the middle of the season?
I say pass.
2009 Is Upon Us...
There does not seem to still be going much on with the Orioles or signings in Major League Baseball; however, the Big Unit is now in San Francisco and may perhaps be the least 300 game winner for a long while if he can stay healthy in 2009.
Well, what do I hope for with the Orioles in the new year? Um, perhaps a few more wins for starters; however, being in the AL East and the shape the team is in versus the rest of the division, that's a tall order.
The money that was going for Mark Teixeira should be spent on pitching, not put away for another day. If we are going after reclamation projects -- find a diamond in the rough like the Kyle Lohse of 2008 -- not necessarily the Mark Hendrickson's of the world (though they have a need). Then again, bring bodies -- lots of 'em -- as evidenced by last year, you can never have enough arms.

With Opening Day 2009 only a mere two months away, obviously most fans are curious as to what the season holds in store for us at Camden Yards.
This week, I decided to reach out and send a few questions via email to Greg Bader -- Director of Communications for the Baltimore Orioles -- about the upcoming season, the economy, the ballpark itself, the team's community efforts and the re-design of the jerseys.
Mr. Bader was gracious enough to respond to my inquiry in less than 24 hours, and his responses are below.

Greg Bader: There is no question that the state of the economy will play a role in the way people! decide to spend their money on entertainment. While we strongly believe that baseball and the Orioles are uniquely positioned in the marketplace as an affordable family entertainment option, we also recognize that times are tough. That is why we have $9 tickets for virtually every game, $8 Bargain Night tickets every Tuesday, $6 Student Night tickets every Friday, and of course the Junior Orioles Dugout Club for kids 14 and under (it should be noted that the Dugout Club provides well over a $100 value for just $17).

Mets Down O's, 9-8; Bullpen Nothing Short of Horrible The Final Two Innings...
Koji Uehara struggled on Monday, and the Baltimore Orioles bullpen allowed the Mets to stage a comeback win, 9-8, in the latter innings of the game. With the score tied at eight in the ninth inning, Rene Rivera hit a solo home run off reliever Alberto Castillo to send New York to victory.
Unlike his past few appearances this Spring Training, Uehara seemingly struggled on the mound and was lifted in the third inning. In total, he only lasted two innings, gave up three earned runs on four hits.
Scott Chiasson came into the game in the third inning and pitched a scoreless inning; however, George Sherill came into the game in the fourth and gave up a run in his inning of work. Jamie Walker, Chris Ray, and Dennis Sarfate each came in a pitched a scoreless inning; however, the Orioles ran into trouble in the eighth inning.
MASN Blogger Night: Wrap-Up, Pictures & More
On Tuesday, myself and various Oriole bloggers partook in a night on baseball, as well "MASN's Orioles Blogger Night" at Camden Yards. Well, over the years, I've been extremely curious to know what really goes on 'behind the scenes'; therefore, we got an crash course that evening. Needless to say, it's a lot of work, and there are far more people involved in the production of a telecast than I even envisioned.
MASN Spokesperson Todd Webster, and Kristen Hudak served as our hosts and spear-headed the event.
As we all met at the home plate entrance of Schaffer Plaza, we all met up and chatted about our blogs, the sport, MASN, and whatever came to our minds. We were quickly ushered up the press area, and while we didn't get to see the press box, we spent a few minutes with MASN broadcasters Gary Thorne and Buck Martinez, who were pretty candid.
Red Sox Dominate Orioles -- Again
The Red Sox earned a series sweep over the Orioles on Sunday as they earned an easy victory, 9-3, as once again, their bats came alive -- this time early. For the second day, Boston hammered Baltimore pitching; however, instead of the victims being members of the bullpen, starter Jason Berken got knocked around. The Orioles finish their season series against the Red Sox in 2009 with a 2-16 record, which partly shows why they are in the cellar of the American League East.
Berken lost his 12th game of the season as he gave up six runs on ten hits. The Red Sox jumped on an inffective Berken in the opening frame Jason Bay plated in a run with an RBI-single, and then with the bases loaded, Mike Lowell drove had a two-run double, to give them a 3-0 lead.
The Red Sox raised the score to 4-0 as Victor Martinez had an RBI-single in the second inning, and then in ! the third, they took a 6-0 lead as Jacoby Ellsbury hit a ground double and plated in two runs. They inflicted more plain on Baltimore as Jason Bay hit his 35th homer -- a solo shot -- in the fourth inning to give them a 7-0 lead.
Luke Scott was hot again on Sunday as he hit his 24th homer -- a two-run shot -- to put Baltimore on the scoreboard. They would score their final run as Michael Aubrey earn an RBI as he walked with the bases loaded.
Carcillo to the Flyers

Carcillo will be a fan favorite in Philly, guaranteed! He's an energy guy, who is young and willing to drop the gloves (often!) On the internet Flyer fans are claiming that they got fleeced in this deal but they have to realize that in the Cap world this is a salary dumping trade. Philly with their hands tied because they are so close to the cap, but in my opinion they got a good young player in return, if he can keep himself under control and not take stupid penalties, such as misconducts (which he was gu! ilty of doing last season for the Coyotes, but has improved on this season).
Good News Hockey Fight Fans: 'Staged' Fighting Rule A No Go!
Great news being reported by Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun of ESPN regarding the 'Staged Fighting Rule' that was discussed at the end of the regular season. According to their article:
It appears the "staged fights" rule recommended by the NHL's 30 GMs will not see the light of day.Like I said that is great news, at least for now. However, if the NHL continues to move in the anti-fighting direction then they'll easily find a way around it. Perhaps "re-interpreting" an old rule or just creating a new rule that's all about "safety". Time will tell, but for now, this is certainly a step in the right direction (or at least not a step in the wrong direction).
The players discussed it at their meeting here this week and they recommended to their members on the competition committee to vote against it.! The committee needs seven of 10 votes to pass a new rule and won't get them if all five players vote "no" next Thursday when the group meets in Montreal.
The union brought in a number of tough guys Wednesday and they shared their universal thumbs-down on the "staged fights" rule proposition.
"They gave the group a pretty clear message," said NHL Players' Association executive Glenn Healy. "What's the code? What are the rules of engagement? Everyone talks about it, but what is it? So we had these guys come in and talk about it.
"We're about safety, but we also understand that if a fight breaks out in a game, Gandhi isn't leaving; he's going to stay and watch it. We understand that it's part of our sport, it cleans up our sport, it polices our sport, and it's entertainment. Goals, saves, fights -- thank you."
The rule would see players receive an automatic 10-minute misconduct for a fight right off a faceoff, or a staged fight. Mon! treal Canadiens tough guy Georges Laraque said Friday the rule! would n ever work.
"It would turn into a mockery anyway because I would turn to a guy and say, 'OK, we can't fight right now because of the rule, so we'll do six Mississippis and meet in the corner.' It's true, we would make a mockery out of it," said Laraque.

Theo Fleury Attempting NHL Comeback
According to TSN:
Theoren Fleury is attempting a comeback and wants to play in the NHL again.
After playing senior hockey last season, Fleury decided in February he was fit enough to give the NHL another try, so he hired a personal trainer and has been working diligently since.
Those close to him say he didn't leave the National Hockey League the way he wanted, which is fueling his desire to return.
The 41-year-old has been sober for almost four years and has been skating daily in Calgary in the hope that an NHL team is willing to invite him to training camp.
Interest in the former Stanley Cup champion won't be enough to clear the way for Fleury's return. He remains under indefinite suspension and would first have to be approved by the NHL and the NHLPA's Substance Abuse programs doctors before reinstatement would be considered.
Sources say Fleu! ry recently sent NHL commissioner Gary Bettman a letter acknowledging his comeback bid and has also discussed the possibility with the leagues doctors.
At 5' 6'', Fleury was one of the smallest players in hockey. Intense and fearless, Fleury made a name for himself for more than his stature. He could score, play defensively and lead teams to championships in junior hockey, in the NHL and on the international stage.

Genoa menang 4-1 atas Napoli dan melambungkan mereka ke puncak klasemen sementaraSeri A. Kemenangan telak Il Grifone itu diwarnai gol perdana Hernan Crespo bagi klub barunya itu.
Dalam laga pekan ketiga yang dihel! at di Luigi Feraris, Senin (14/9/2009) dinihari WIB, Crespo mencetak golnya tersebut pada menit ke-75. Memanfaatkan umpan kompatriotnya asal Argentina, Rodrigo Palacio, Crespo pun dengan tenang menendang bola ke tiang jauh jala Napoli yang dikawal Morgan De Sanctis.
Sebelumnya Genoa sudah unggul 2-1 lewat penalti Sergio Floccari dan Giandomenic Mesto, masing-masing di menit ke-45 dan 55 dan Houssine Karja melalui titik putih pada menit ke-88 menutup pesta tim sekota Sampdoria itu. Napoli sempat unggul duluan pada menit ke-41 lewat gol Marek Hamsik.
Pertandingan tersebut berjalan keras yang ditandai lahirnya tiga kartu merah, satu dari kubu tuan rumah yaitu Domenico Cristico di menit ke-28 dan si tamu kebagian dua, Hugo Armando Campagnaro dan Salvatore Aronica (45' & 87').

Duo pemilik Liverpool, George Gillet dan Tom Hicks, telah mengonfirmasikan pihaknya tengah menjajaki kemungkinan masuknya investor baru. Tetapi sang investor baru mau melakukan investasi apabila keduanya berdamai dan melunasi utang mereka.
Isu tentang beralihnya kepemilikan Liverpool dari tangan duet Tom Hicks dan George Gillet ! semakin mendekati titik terang. Pada hari Selasa (29/9/2009), kedua pengusaha asal Amerika Serikat itu mengonfirmasikan tengah menjajaki kemungkinan masuknya investor baru.
Seperti diberitakan sebelumnya, Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah, seorang putera mahkota Arab berniat membeli 50 persen saham milik Hicks dan Gillet di Liverpool.
Tak hanya itu, Faisal yang juga pemilik F6, sebuah perusahaan Pemasaran dan Investasi yang berpusat di Saudi Arabia itu, pun berniat menyuntikkan dana sebesar 200 juta poundsterling atau setara tiga triliun rupiah.
Namun demikian, Faisal meminta kepada Hicks dan Gillet untuk akur dulu, baru ia mau berinvestasi. Ia juga ingin agar keduanya untuk menyelunasi utang mereka terlebih dahulu.
"Investasi Yang Mulia bisa mencapai 100 persen. Tetapi ia tak ingin dijadikan solusi dari masalah utang atau pertengkaran keduanya. Yang Mulia tak mau terlibat dalam masalah keduanya. Dia bukan pernasihat pernikahan," ujar ! jurubicara Faisal, Barry Didato, di Daily Mail.
"Ut! ang ters ebut berada dalam level yang wajar dulu sebelum Pangeran Faisal berinvestasi. Saat ini utang tersebut masih tinggi. Dia tak ingin dilihat sebagai orang yang akan menyeimbangkan keuangan. Gillet-lah yang harus melakukannya," tandas dia.

Last, The Red Devils beat manchester city, another football club from city of Manchester. MU got this victory after doing a dramatic match, because manchester city was too difficult to be beaten.
manchester city was beaten 4-3 for MU in that match. This match was held in Old Trafford Stadium, MU's homebase. Darrent Flatcher made two goals for MU in this match, Wayne Rooney and Micheal Owen Scored one goal. While goals for manchester city were scored by Gareth Barry and Craig Bellamy with his two goals.
Manchester United got a fast goal in minute 2nd that scored by Wayney rooney after getting an accurate pass from Patrice Evra. Then Gareth Bellamy made goal for Manchester City! in minute 16th, 1-1 for both of teams. The first half in this match was ended by this score, Manchester United 1 and Manchester City 1.
In the second half, the match became more interesting, more goals were scored in this time. Darrent Flatcher scored two goals for Manchester United in this second half and so did Craig Bellamy for Manchester City, 3-3 for both of teams. The match was look liked would be ended by draw score, 3-3. But in the end of injury time, Michael Owen scored a goal for manchester united, MU 4 and Manchester City 3.
Mark Hughes, manchester city's manager tried to show protest to official refree. He regarded that the time was given in that match was too long, it was an over time for Mark Hughes. But the official refree did'nt pay attention to mark's protest, and MU got three points from that match.

Why is Jenas in trouble?
It disgusts me that the F.A. have written to Jermaine Jenas when in fact they should have sent a first class stamped letter to their employee, Mr. Webb, asking him to explain himself.
They have asked Jenas to explain the remarks he made after the loss over the weekend; remarks to the tune of "it was like he (Webb) didn't think" and "it was like he'd already made his mind up when he came out for the second half that he was going to give something".
Will the Football Association never learn? Sure enough, they've tried to put the spotlight on Jenas, making sure that no one talks about their golden boy Howard. But did Jermaine actually say anything wrong? For those that were at the game, as well as those watching it on TV, Jenas' comments were spot on.
Instead of the F.A. making a statement in relation to the disastrous error made by Webb, they've gone and found a s! capegoat and in effect done sweet F.A. in relation to how they're going to sort out their refereeing issues.

Dari tiga pola kerjasama yang ditawarkan distributor, tidak ada yang sreg dengan Trans7. "Modelnya ada ti! ga, yang pertama beli putus, yang kedua seperti ada semi block! ing dan yang terakhir revenue sharing," jelas Andi. Ancora qualche giorno e l'Inter ufficializzerà l'ingaggio di Sulley Muntari. Alla chiusura dell'affare manacano pochi dettagli: il procuratore del ghanese ha già trovato un'intesa per un contratto di 5 anni e la differenza tra la richiesta del Portsmouth (18 milioni) e l'offerta dei nerazzurri (13) è stata limata a solo un milione di euro. L'arrivo del 24enne ex Udinese, però, chiude definitivamente le porte a Lampard e Quaresma.
Nelle ultime ore i contatti tra le due società si sono intensificati ed entro sabato il capo esecutivo degli inglesi, Peter Storrie, sarà a Milano per firmare il passaggio del giocatore. Il cui agente, Fabien Piveteau, è già s! tato nel capoluogo lombardo, dove ha incontrato Branca e Oriali.

Sta entrando nel vivo la trattativa che mira a portare in maglia bianconeraDiego, asso brasili! ano del Werder Brema. Il Palermo viene da due vittorie consecutive in campionato con Roma e Genoa, dopo il disastroso 3 a 1 della prima giornata subito allo stadio Friuli, una squadra rinata sembrerebbe, dopo l'arrivo di mr. Ballardini, che è subentrato a Colantuono già dopo la prima giornata, sembrerebbe che la volubilità del Presidente Zamparini questa volta abbia portato degli ottimi risultati. Dalla sua il Napoli vanta una continuità che ormai è l'arma forte dei partenopei, se si pensa che alla guida di mr Reja gli azzurri anno attraversato l'inferno della serie C1, per poi trovarsi in purgatorio dove con una buona condotta hanno visto aprirsi le porte del paradiso insieme ai fratelli genoani in una festa fantastica, ora in paradiso ci siamo, in quattro anni di sforzi il presidente De Laurentiis, ci ha portato a cospetto degli dei del calcio europeo, ora con un ! pò di pazienza aspettiamo solo di entrarne a far parte! Percor! si dante schi a parte, questo mercoledì sera, si prospetta scoppiettante, è lo stesso presidente del Palermo Maurizio Zamparini a lasciare delle dichiarazioni sulla sfida del San Paolo:
"dopo il doppio successo casalingo contro Roma e Genoa, mi aspetto un buon Palermo anche nella delicata trasferta di domani sera a Napoli. ''Mi aspetto una partita maschia, tra due squadre in forma e forti" - ha detto il presidente rosanero a 'Marte Sport Live' su Radio Marte. "Non firmo per un pareggio, sono certo che non firmerebbe neanche De Laurentiis. Le assenze di Lavezzi e Miccoli sono pesanti per entrambe, però credo che le due rose siano in grado di sostituire i due giocatori''.
